Someone You Know and Love

Anti-Stigma Film

This effort is dedicated to uplifting the voices of PLWH and celebrating their determination, courage, and spirit. The campaign also aims to eradicate the misinformation that permeates the lives of PLWH, their family and friends, and their community. The Council initiated the campaign to promote positive imagery, distribute accurate prevention and treatment information, and encourage supportive dialogue and understanding under the message/slogan: You Already Know and Love Someone with HIV.

With extensive experience in public health, youth engagement, and community organizing, they craft compelling, captivating visual narratives that effectively convey public health information for various communication channels, including print, digital, social media, and audiovisual platforms. Their team is devoted to developing culturally sensitive projects that resonate with diverse audiences to inspire action, build community, and educate. One of their differentiators as a creative production studio includes their robust technical expertise in both digital media production and public health. The depth of their technical expertise in both areas allows them to provide nuanced approaches that allow for innovative and creative communication strategies which many digital media production houses without public health experience may struggle to provide.

  • The stigma associated with health conditions such as HIV infection is a major public health problem that impedes treatment and prevention efforts. The International Conference on Stigma at Howard University brings together researchers, community, academia, policy makers, faith leaders and youth to discuss the impact of health-related stigma and ongoing research on interventions to eliminate stigma. The conference includes plenary sessions, advocacy leadership training sessions, scientific poster presentations, networking opportunities, and art.

The Stigma Art Contest, within the Conference, aims to reduce the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS: “Whether it is a diagnosis of HIV or a lifelong battle with depression, stigma affects all of us. We have an ongoing call for artwork depicting the shame, denial, and secrets perpetuated by a world of stigma. Submit your paintings, videos, essays, poetry, and other forms of art that have an anti-stigma message.”

The Planning Council Consumer Committee submitted Someone You Know and Love and out of over 65 submissions in 2021, won first place!
